Below is my emulation, based off the work by Jhonen Vasquez that I studied earlier.
I did the lineart of the 'monster' using ink and dip pen, which I then scanned into Photoshop.
I altered the levels to create a monochromatic version of the lineart, which I then coloured using the pen tool.
I used the original piece as a reference for the artist's colouring style. He uses a restricted palette, so I limited myself to purple, lighter purple, black and white.
